History
Dubai Studio City (DSC) was launched in February 2005 in response to the phenomenal success of the broadcasting segment of Dubai Media City; a growth, which necessitated a complete technical and community infrastructure catering to the film, TV, radio production and broadcast industries. DSC has over time positioned itself as a regional destination for production and broadcast companies, as well as a wide range of support services, including providers for animation, dubbing, makeup, costume design, set design and construction, casting, telnet agencies, telecine, and laboratory facilities. DSC features pre-built studios, sound stages, workshops, back lots and stage areas, post-production studios, a business centre for freelancers and satellite communication services. Through its support of Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), DSC seeks to foster film production and lay the ground for global studios to come to the pan-Arab region. DSC’s range of benefits includes the Location Approval Services (LAS), which acts as a single window for processing production permits and visas. A fast-track immigration procedure enables crews to get visas quickly, allowing companies to effortlessly recruit talent.
